Project Coordinator, Audit
Accountabilities Manage coding audit projects: Establish project timelines, coordinate audit tools and processes, communicate expectations to auditors and clients, monitor progress against deadlines, and provide regular status updates to audit leadership and clients.
Coordinate client relationships: Address client questions and project issues, communicate audit findings and recommendations, participate in exit conferences and coding education sessions, and ensure clients clearly understand final results.
Support audit teams: Help auditors establish remote access, provide ongoing project support, identify issues requiring management attention, and recommend appropriate auditor assignments.
Ensure quality and consistency: Prepare audit summary reports, review preliminary and final audit recommendations, provide feedback to auditors, and promote consistency across projects and audit teams.
Contribute to auditing activities: Perform coding audits and educational sessions when needed and provide additional client support based on project requirements.
Mentor and develop colleagues: Train new auditors, conduct annual peer-to-peer reviews, provide feedback and education, and support colleagues in using audit software and related tools.
Support operational administration: Assist management with accurate time, attendance, and production tracking.
Contribute to service growth: Identify opportunities to expand coding audit services and provide recommendations for improvements to audit software, reporting, and data analytics capabilities.
Requirements
Healthcare coding expertise: Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding and PPS reimbursement methodologies, including MS-DRG, APR-DRG, APC, and RBRVS.
Project management experience: At least 1 year of experience managing contract deliverables or comparable projects within a healthcare environment.
Technical proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Healthcare audit experience: Familiarity with coding audits, client-facing audit processes, and healthcare revenue cycle environments.
Communication skills: Excellent interpersonal, presentation, speaking, written communication, and problem-solving abilities, with confidence interacting with clients, managers, providers, and internal teams.
Client-service mindset: Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, flexibility, customer focus, willingness to learn, and commitment to high-quality results.
Organization and independence: Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain strong attention to detail, and remain self-motivated while working toward project goals.
Preferred experience: Experience across patient modalities, particularly Professional Fee coding, as well as familiarity with encoder/grouper software and large teaching or university healthcare facilities.
Travel and physical requirements: Ability to travel up to 30% and perform duties involving periods of sitting, standing, walking, reaching, speaking, and handling materials up to 25 pounds.
