Accountabilities Lead investment evaluation: Assess prospective investment opportunities based on commercial viability, scalability, financial performance, growth potential, and strategic alignment.

Manage end-to-end due diligence: Conduct comprehensive assessments of financial statements, business operations, market positioning, business fundamentals, and investment risks to support informed decision-making.

Engage with founders and executives: Work directly with company founders, senior management teams, and other key stakeholders to validate assumptions, assess leadership capabilities, and understand business opportunities and challenges.

Develop financial analyses and investment recommendations: Reconstruct financial information where necessary, evaluate unit economics and business models, and prepare clear, data-driven investment memoranda to support investment decisions.

Build and manage the investment pipeline: Identify, source, and maintain a strong pipeline of high-potential companies, proactively developing relationships and evaluating opportunities across relevant sectors and markets.

Drive transaction execution: Take ownership of investment deals from initial sourcing through negotiation, structuring, and closing, ensuring that transactions are commercially sound and aligned with strategic objectives.

Support portfolio growth and acceleration: Contribute to the development and refinement of internal systems, processes, and performance-tracking tools that help portfolio companies scale effectively.

Provide hands-on execution leadership: Personally drive critical deliverables, coordinate stakeholders, resolve complex challenges, and ensure that investment initiatives progress efficiently from analysis to implementation.

Contribute to investment strategy: Help shape the broader investment approach by identifying emerging opportunities, evaluating market trends, and supporting the development of scalable businesses across Africa.

Requirements

Extensive investment experience: At least 10 years of experience in private equity, venture capital, investment banking, corporate finance, corporate development, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), asset management, or strategic investments.

Proven transaction leadership: Demonstrated experience managing investment transactions throughout the entire lifecycle, including opportunity sourcing, due diligence, negotiations, deal structuring, and execution.

Strong financial and commercial acumen: Advanced analytical capabilities, with the ability to evaluate financial performance, business models, unit economics, growth opportunities, scalability, and investment risks.

Relevant institutional experience: Experience gained within a leading investment firm, financial institution, multinational corporation, or professional services organization is highly desirable.

Big Four experience (preferred): Experience at Deloitte, EY, KPMG, or PwC, particularly in transaction advisory, deal advisory, corporate finance, strategy, valuations, tax advisory, or legal advisory, is a strong advantage.

Tax and legal expertise (preferred): Exposure to tax advisory, legal advisory, transaction structuring, or related disciplines is beneficial.

Entrepreneurial background: Former founders and startup operators with substantial transaction experience are encouraged to apply, particularly those who combine commercial judgment with hands-on execution capabilities.

Executive stakeholder management: Confidence engaging with founders, executives, boards, and senior decision-makers, with the ability to challenge assumptions, communicate insights, and build trusted relationships.

Execution-oriented leadership: Experience working in small, high-performing teams where initiative, accountability, independent judgment, and personal ownership are essential.

Entrepreneurial mindset: Commercial curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments while creating structure and driving progress.

Clear communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex financial and commercial insights in a concise, accessible, and decision-oriented manner.

Education and qualifications: Formal finance qualifications are an advantage; however, demonstrated investment expertise and successful transaction experience will take priority.

Remote collaboration: Ability to work effectively across international markets and time zones, ideally within approximately three hours of East Africa Time (EAT). Preference is given to candidates based in South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritius, or countries where the organization has an established presence.
