About the company

Are you ready to help advance the transition to clean mobility? At Cavendish Hydrogen, we are driven by a clear and vital mission: accelerating the global transition to zero-emission heavy-duty transportation. As a dedicated hydrogen fueling company, we design, deliver, and service cutting-edge hydrogen refueling stations (HRS) for customers across Europe, North America and Asia.

Your tasks

To support our growing international operations, we are looking for a curious, adaptable, and solution-oriented Software Engineer to join our Technical Department within Operations at our headquarters in Lind, Herning. In this role, you will contribute to the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of our hydrogen refueling solutions, helping customers around the world transition to sustainable transportation.

About the job As our Software Engineer you will connect our global field operations with our in-house software and innovation teams. You will be responsible for ensuring our customers’ hydrogen fueling stations perform safely, reliably, and efficiently across the globe. You will join an agile and collaborative Technical Department comprising of seven skilled colleagues. The team supports service technicians, project managers, and international customers.

Our software architecture is fully developed in-house. You will work closely with Application Engineering and the R&D Software Team to troubleshoot operational issues, implement software adjustments, and optimize live systems.

Operational support & advanced troubleshooting

  • Provide software expertise to field service technicians, project teams, and global customers.
  • Analyze machine telemetry, logs, and system data to identify operational issues.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analyses (RCA) of software- and control-related incidents and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Prioritize, manage, and escalate complex technical software challenges to relevant engineering teams.

Software adjustments & minor feature improvements

  • Define, test, and deploy operational software adjustments, bug fixes, and site-specific parameter configurations.
  • Implement urgent software updates while maintaining code integrity and alignment with the R&D Software Team.
  • Translate field observations into clear specifications, user stories, and feature requests.

Remote commissioning support & knowledge sharing

  • Support remote commissioning, factory testing, and system energization of new stations from our test facilities in Lind.
  • Connect the Technical Department with Application Engineering and the R&D Software Team to support effective knowledge sharing and problem-solving.

Requirements

You may be a recent graduate ready to begin a career in green technology or an experienced engineer seeking meaningful industrial impact. Because our software is developed in-house, curiosity, structured problem-solving, and a willingness to learn are more important than experience with specific third-party tools.

Educational Background: You have a degree in Software Engineering, Automation & Control, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Relevant practical experience or an equivalent technical background is also welcome.

Interest in in-house software architecture: You are motivated to understand how software interacts with complex physical equipment including valves, compressors, cooling systems, and high-pressure gas controls.

PLC and automation experience: Experience with PLC programming in Structured Text under IEC 61131-3 is beneficial. Familiarity with Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 is an advantage but not a requirement.

Analytical approach: You are comfortable analyzing data and diagnostic logs and use a structured approach to root-cause investigation.

International flexibility: you can occasionally adjust your working hours to collaborate with colleagues and partners in North American or Asian time zones.

Language and communication: You communicate confidently in written and spoken English, our corporate language.

What we offer

Structured onboarding and mentoring: Experienced software and service engineers who will guide you through our software architecture and station design. Certified Beckhoff TwinCAT training may also be provided where relevant, and you will receive ongoing support from the R&D Software team.

Meaningful impact: Your work will help improve the uptime of commercial hydrogen refueling stations and keep zero-emission fleets operating.

Modern facilities in Lind: You will work in modern facilities with advanced test bays, a high-quality lunch canteen, an active staff association, and health insurance.

Flexibility & work-life balance: Your primary workplace and team will be based in Lind, with flexible working arrangements available.

No regular travel: You will support international remotely, without the need for frequent business travel.

Collaborative culture: You will join an informal and open workplace where questions, knowledge sharing, and autonomy are encouraged.

Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
