The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced and driven Senior Electronics Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team. In this role, you will take end-to-end technical ownership of our high-complexity Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), directly impacting the reliability and capability of our autonomous mobile robots (ANYmal). You will bridge the gap between advanced concept designs and ruggedized, industrial-grade production, helping us scale our electronics architecture for harsh and hazardous environments. The Market & Our Technology ANYbotics is revolutionizing industrial inspection with ANYmal, our quadrupedal robot designed to navigate the world’s most challenging environments—from offshore oil platforms to complex chemical plants. Our technology integrates advanced robotics software with robust hardware that must withstand extreme conditions, strict EMI/EMC standards, and rigorous safety certifications. By developing highly sophisticated, reliable, and optimized electronics, you enable our robots to operate autonomously where humans cannot. Your Impact Take full technical ownership and product care of 1-2 key high-complexity PCBAs (e.g., our complex communication switches or Battery Management Systems) Drive the PCBA development process from initial architecture and schematics through layout, prototyping, debugging, and production handover Strategically review and simplify our current PCBA portfolio across ANYmal product lines to optimize system architecture Establish rigorous test specifications and verification protocols to ensure flawless execution during productization Collaborate closely with systems engineers and cross-functional teams to integrate electronics seamlessly into the robot Champion high-quality engineering standards within the EE team, bringing strong industrial experience to the table Your Profile Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field with at least 7 years of hands-on experience developing electronics boards for industrial, aerospace, or military applications Expert-level proficiency in industry-standard ECAD software (e.g., KiCad, Altium) and simulation tools like SPICE Proven track record of layouting your own complex designs with strict creepage, clearance, and isolation constraints for safety-critical applications Extensive experience designing for harsh environments, including a strong background in meeting EMI/EMC compliance and functional safety standards Deep expertise in debugging, verification, and defining testing specifications for manufacturing production Strong proficiency in at least two of the following areas: Battery Management Systems (BMS), power electronics/motor drives, high-speed interfaces (USB, EtherCAT, WiFi), or MCU-based embedded systems Highly accountable mindset with the ability to make firm technical decisions and own the outcomes in a dynamic environment Bonus Points Experience with Explosion-proof (Ex-protection) electronics design or hazardous-area applications Background in wireless electronics design or Edge AI Compute Hardware Direct experience working within the robotics or autonomous systems industry Familiarity with InvenTree or similar modern tools for component and inventory management We offer you a very exciting and dynamic work environment, the opportunity to become part of a fast-growing company and an ambitious team that is on a mission to change the industrial inspection market, a chance to leverage your experience and bring in your own ideas, a fair market salary, an attractive employee stock ownership plan, and a job in the city of Zurich.     Agency Policy: We are not currently partnering with external search firms or recruitment agencies.
