Housekeeping Aid Training Leader
This position is located within the Environmental Management Services (EMS), performing technical, administrative, or professional training instruction work. The position's training instruction work covers hospital housekeeping procedures, on the job training, cleaning tools and equipment, Environment of Care Rounds and EMS quality assurance training, all principles and practices of EMS. This position assists in the administration and training instruction of the EMS service line.
Major duties
Duties include but not limited to: Develops new approaches, methods and techniques that take into account adult learning modales. Customizes materials to meet organizational requirements and needs. Develop evidence-based course content for complete courses pertaining to application and use of education technologies. Develops classes and instructs course participants using the unique educational technology capabilities of the VAPHS Learning exchanges (simulation center or SIM center) in order to maximize training effectiveness and exploit synergies with the simulation center educational systems. Develops course documentation consistent with established standards of educational design.. Develops and delivers developmental classes for instructors in educational competencies and strategies including: adult education concepts and techniques, effective course design, and classroom interaction. Applies professional education knowledge to solve educational problems through unconventional techniques and strategies. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00am-2:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Housekeeping Aid Training Leader/PD020730 Physical Requirements: The work entails no special physical demands although some physical effort may be required relative to moving equipment and supplies throughout the department and to various parts of the facility as necessitated by educational programming. Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing and moving education equipment. Manual dexterity is required to work educational equipment systems and controls. Fieldwork may involve travel to provide training, attend meetings, or gather information. The incumbent is required to perform the use of EMS equipment, tools and cleaning methods as means of teaching and training staff. The periodic episode may be no more greater than what is required of Housekeeping employee in performance of duties. Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office and/or classroom environment, but may also require working in other areas of the facility including clinical areas. Position may involve travel as necessitated by educational programming and scholarly activities. The classroom environment may be on the job training. Periodically the incumbent may be exposed to waste management, housekeeping work and all these combined duties of EMS. There are times foul odors as related to the work of waste management, soiled linen, etc. This would be periodically in course of training.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
