As a Senior Compliance Officer within the Compliance team, operating as the second line of defense in the bank, you will act as a strategic and trusted partner to the business, ensuring full compliance with MiFID II, Investor Protection frameworks, and regulatory requirements governing investment services. You will provide high‑level regulatory advisory, contribute to the strengthening of UniCredit’s control environment, and support the development of a robust culture of conduct and client protection across the Bank. This role requires strong seniority, autonomy, and the capability to interact confidently with senior management, internal stakeholders, and supervisory authorities.
What you will be doing?
Regulatory Advisory & Strategic Support
Provide authoritative guidance to business leaders, Product Management, CIB, Corporate Sales and Wealth Management, and IT on MiFID II, ESMA guidelines, Investor Protection rules, and relevant Polish local investment‑services regulation
Assess the impact of new regulatory developments and contribute to strategic decisions, ensuring alignment with UniCredit policies and regulatory expectations
Deliver expert opinions on new products, distribution strategies, digital initiatives, advisory tools, and end‑to‑end client processes
Governance, Policies & Frameworks
Oversee and enhance MiFID‑related frameworks, including:
Product Governance (target market methodology, value for money assessments, product lifecycle management)
Suitability & Appropriateness frameworks
Inducements, transparency, and costs & charges
Best Execution oversight
Client disclosure and customer journey compliance
Contribute to policy updates, operational guidelines, and governance processes in alignment with regulatory changes and UniCredit standards
Second‑Line Controls & Compliance Risk Management
Lead second‑line controls and thematic reviews, ensuring the effectiveness of the Bank control environment
Identify regulatory risks, formulate remediation plans, and challenge first‑line functions where necessary
Support the annual Compliance Risk Assessment and provide high‑quality input on investment‑services risk scenarios
Projects, Transformation & Digitalization
Play a senior role in cross‑bank strategic projects, including digital advisory platforms, remote distribution models, and evolution of investment products
Collaborate with IT and business owners to ensure system developments meet MiFID and conduct‑of‑business requirements
Training, Culture & Stakeholder Engagement
Deliver high‑impact training to senior stakeholders, commercial networks, and internal functions
Act as a promoter of UniCredit’s culture of ethics, transparency, and responsible business conduct
Support internal working groups and governance bodies with senior‑level contributions
Regulatory Relations & Reporting
Prepare high‑quality documentation for internal audit, compliance committees, and supervisory engagements
Support interactions with regulators, ensuring consistent and accurate communication of the Bank’s position on MiFID and Investor Protection themes
Skills you should have
Degree in Law, Economics, Finance, or related fields; postgraduate specialization in financial markets or compliance is a plus
At least 5 years of experience in Compliance, Risk, Legal, Regulatory Consulting, or Audit within investment‑services environments
Proven expertise in MiFID II, Investor Protection, ESMA guidelines, and national conduct‑of‑business rules
Strong understanding of financial instruments (funds, derivatives, structured products, IBIPs, advisory services) and related distribution models
Experience in international and/or digital banks is a plus
Strong analytical capability and ability to translate regulatory text into practical solutions
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and challenge at senior levels
Strong stakeholder management, cross‑functional collaboration, and decision‑making autonomy
High level of accuracy, accountability, and strategic thinking
Proactive mindset and strong orientation to client protection and risk mitigation
Fluency in Polish and English is a must (other European languages considered a plus)
