Design Manager - Infrastructure & Engineering Birmingham (B37) 3 Days Per Week On Site £400 per day (Inside IR35) 3-6 Month Contract

Our client, a leading infrastructure and engineering organisation, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to support the delivery of major engineering and infrastructure projects from their Birmingham (B37) location.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for managing design activities from inception through to delivery, ensuring projects are coordinated, compliant and delivered in line with programme requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the design programme across project activities.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.
  • Lead design reviews and technical coordination meetings.
  • Ensure design deliverables meet project and client requirements.
  • Manage design assurance processes and technical approvals.
  • Coordinate interfaces between design, commercial, planning and delivery teams.
  • Manage design risks and support safe-by-design initiatives.
  • Monitor design progress and resolve issues proactively.
  • Support change control and design governance activities.
  • Manage technical queries, document control and design communications.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Promote innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years' experience within Design Management or a similar position.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong programme management and coordination skills.
  • Experience leading stakeholders across design and delivery functions.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project controls.
  • Knowledge of design assurance and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to operate effectively within fast-paced project environments.
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or similar preferred.
  • Experience working within highly regulated sectors would be beneficial.
