Chief Logistics Manager

Job Summary

Octoville Development Company, a leading management consulting and project management firm, is seeking the services of a Chief Logistics Manager for a client in the agro-commodity export space. The Chief Logistics Manager will lead the firm’s end-to-end operating model, from aggregation and warehousing through quality management, inland logistics, export documentation, customs clearing, port handling, and delivery to international buyers where applicable.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer and members of the management team. Lead the firm’s end-to-end operations across commodity aggregation, warehousing, quality management, logistics, and export execution. Manage warehouse-to-port logistics, including haulage planning, truck/container scheduling, customs clearing, forwarding, and port operations. Coordinate freight forwarders, clearing agents, transporters, shipping lines, terminal operators, and other logistics service providers. Ensure timely and accurate export documentation and compliance with customs, port, regulatory, and buyer requirements. Oversee commodity supply-chain planning and movement from sourcing and aggregation locations through warehouses to export destinations. Manage warehouse operations, inventory control, stock reconciliation, traceability, quality preservation, and loss reduction. Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks affecting shipment timelines, port clearance, and customer delivery commitments. Control operational costs across transportation, warehousing, clearing, forwarding, and port activities while identifying opportunities to improve margins. Establish SOPs, operational controls, dashboards, and KPIs to improve efficiency, turnaround time, and shipment reliability. Establish and develop relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders. Coordinate with procurement, commercial, and finance teams to align commodity availability, shipment schedules, working capital, and customer commitments. Manage operational risks and ensure successful execution of contracted commodity supply and export obligations.

Requirements and Qualifications

Demonstrated hands-on experience managing export shipments from Nigeria, particularly warehouse-to-port movement, customs clearing, and port operations. Practical knowledge of Nigerian export corridors, customs processes, clearing and forwarding, shipping procedures, and commodity export documentation. Experience managing third-party logistics providers and resolving time-sensitive operational bottlenecks. Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, with substantial responsibility for operations, logistics, or supply-chain execution. A strong ability to develop and motivate a team, and to collaborate and act as a team player. Familiarity with relevant technology tools such as Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Hands-on experience in statistical analysis and statistical packages. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication, and presentation skills. Critical-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving mindset.
