Description des tâches:

Project Context:

PLANTFix (Positioned canopy tying through integrated navigation with automated fastening technology) is an advanced R&D project backed by the Ministry of the Economy in Luxembourg. The project focuses on developing an open, low-cost, multi-frequency GNSS receiver stack with RTK and PPP-AR capabilities tailored for precision viticulture, agricultural robotics, and autonomous machinery.

Role Summary:

LuxGeospatial is seeking a Senior GNSS Geodesy Researcher / Navigation R&D Specialist to lead the positioning core and firmware stack development for our agricultural navigation module. You will bridge cutting-edge geodetic signal processing with embedded hardware integration. Working closely with internal engineering teams and external partners (including Trier University of Applied Sciences, the University of Luxembourg, and CLEMENS Technologies), you will ensure centimetre-level positioning performance, sub-millisecond deterministic timing, and high operational integrity under challenging field conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. GNSS Receiver Integration & RF Design:
  • Integrate and qualify multi-frequency, multi-constellation OEM GNSS modules (e.g., u-blox F9 series or Septentrio mosaic family) onto compact carrier boards.
  • Manage RF partitioning, low-noise amplification (LNAs), power regulation, disciplined clocking (TCXO/OCXO), and pre-compliance EMC/EMI troubleshooting.
  1. RTK & PPP-AR Algorithm & Firmware Development:
  • Implement and optimize Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) and Precise Point Positioning with Ambiguity Resolution (PPP-AR) correction clients via NTRIP and SSR streams.
  • Formulate robust integer ambiguity resolution algorithms (LAMBDA family), advanced cycle-slip detection, multipath metrics, and RAIM-like integrity suites (quality flags, protection levels, and residuals).
  • Design and optimize embedded firmware in C/C++ on RTOS environments, alongside Python pipelines for scientific modeling, data analysis, and RINEX parsing.
  1. Deterministic Timing & Synchronization:
  • Design and verify hardware 1PPS (One Pulse Per Second), PTP (Precision Time Protocol / IEEE-1588), and low-jitter time-sync architectures to achieve sub-millisecond alignment with downstream actuation and perception controllers.
  1. Open API & Middleware Bindings:
  • Define, document, and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICD) and data bindings across UART, SPI, CAN, Ethernet, and Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2).
  1. Field Testing & Consortium Validation:
  • Design experimental test plans, collect and process large-scale RINEX raw observation logs, and benchmark against CORS networks.
  • Execute winter georeferenced post-surveys and field trials under canopy and on steep slopes alongside academic and industrial project partners.

Contraintes:

  • Autre:Occasional outdoor field testing and travel to partner sites (Trier/Greater Region)

Profil:
