Staff Software Engineer, Governance

Accountabilities: As a Staff Software Engineer, Governance, you will design, develop, and enhance backend systems that support enterprise AI governance capabilities. You will work on highly scalable solutions, contribute to architectural decisions, and help engineering teams deliver high-quality software while collaborating closely with product and technical stakeholders.

Design and develop software solutions that enhance governance capabilities and improve user experiences across AI workflows.

Build scalable backend services and contribute to the evolution of enterprise AI and data science platforms.

Extend and improve open-source technologies supporting platform functionality.

Create technical designs, document architectural decisions, and communicate solutions clearly to cross-functional teams.

Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to plan, prioritize, and deliver impactful features.

Participate in code reviews and design discussions to improve engineering quality and technical standards.

Mentor and support fellow engineers by sharing technical expertise and promoting best practices.

Develop and optimize distributed systems that support large-scale data science and AI operations.

Build reliable APIs, integrations, and services that connect different components of the platform.

Improve system performance, scalability, security, and maintainability in cloud-based environments.

Contribute to a culture of innovation, learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced backend engineer with strong expertise in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and software architecture. You should be comfortable solving complex technical challenges, working independently, and collaborating with teams to build production-grade solutions.

5+ years of experience in backend software development, particularly with distributed computing technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.

Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Scala, Go, or Python.

Experience designing and developing APIs, including RESTful APIs, GraphQL, or similar technologies.

Proven experience building production-grade software systems in scalable environments.

Strong understanding of cloud technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices.

Experience improving backend performance, reliability, and scalability.

Familiarity with service-oriented architecture and designing modular, maintainable services.

Strong knowledge of system design principles and distributed application architectures.

Ability to collaborate effectively with product, engineering, and cross-functional teams.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex technical challenges.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.

Independent, proactive mindset with the ability to be a reliable and collaborative teammate.
