Accesstech Innovation and Research Centre promotes digital inclusion and employment opportunities for persons with visual impairment through assistive technology training, innovation, and research.

Role Summary

We are looking for a committed ICT Instructor to teach blind and visually impaired learners the digital skills they need for education, employment, and independent living.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teach Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) using screen reader software.
2. Train learners to use Android devices with TalkBack and iPhone and Mac devices with VoiceOver.
3. Use Braille to deliver and support instruction where appropriate.
4. Prepare accessible lesson plans, learning materials, and practical exercises.
5. Assess learner progress and give regular feedback.
6. Keep accurate training records and submit progress reports.
7. Contribute to the Centre's programmes, outreach, and research activities.

Required Qualifications and Skills

1. A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) from a recognised institution.
2. Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), with a certificate or exemption letter.

Proven proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite using a screen reader.

1. Proficiency with Android and TalkBack.
2. Proficiency with iPhone and Mac using VoiceOver.
3. Braille literacy.
4. Independent mobility skills, including the ability to travel to and within the training venue.
5. Good communication, patience, and facilitation skills.
6. Current residence in Lagos.

Desirable

1. Prior experience teaching or training persons with visual impairment.
2. Knowledge of other assistive technologies, such as JAWS and NVDA.
