Position

Position title: Company Production Veterinarian

Reports to: Production Group Chief Technical Officer

Place of work: Kampala with frequent travel to various production sites

Job Summary

The Company Production Veterinarian will play a crucial role in driving continuous improvements in poultry production performance. This role is responsible for championing adherence to Group Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), rolling out technical training, and building capacity among production teams at breeder farms, hatcheries and feed mills[JB2] . The Veterinarian will support performance monitoring of poultry parent stock and hatcheries, feed quality control procedures, provide vaccination and disease investigation training, conduct audits, and coach production teams and management to improve quality and consistency of products. The successful candidate will receive coaching and close technical guidance from the Group CTO. In addition, the role acts as a key technical link between on-farm production teams and the CTO, ensuring frontline feedback contributes to SOP enhancement and technical strategy. The role will involve both field-based and cross-functional collaboration with frequent travel to production sites.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & SOP Implementation

Lead the roll-out of Production Department SOPs across all breeder farms and production sites. Train, mentor, and coach production teams on SOP implementation, including biosecurity, welfare standards, and performance optimisation. Develop and deliver practical vaccination and disease monitoring training to strengthen diagnostic capabilities of technical staff.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

Monitor and analyse parent stock and hatchery performance (mortality, egg production, hatchability etc.) and provide regular feedback to CTO and country management. Attend, participate in and at times, lead, weekly production meetings. Identify production bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions rooted in veterinary best practice and Hatch Africa Group standards.

Auditing & Compliance

Conduct production site audits (breeder farms, hatcheries, feed mill[JB3] ) to assess SOP compliance and product quality. Provide clear, actionable feedback and follow up with management, operational and technical teams on corrective action plans. Escalate repetitive non-conformance or deteriorating audit results.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Communicate frontline technical insights to the Group CTO to influence SOP revisions and technical strategy. Work closely with other departments to align technical support and performance goals. Liaise closely with external stakeholders and consultants on production-related matters.

Capacity Building

Support on-going technical training and coaching for production teams, and other departments as needed, to strengthen technical knowledge and operational discipline. Assist CTO with the maintenance of training materials and technical guidelines for continuous learning across teams.

Qualifications

Required:

Degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) Fluent in English and local language(s)[JB4]  Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills with an eagerness to learn and teach others The willingness to travel to different production sites
