Mish Mish Mezza is seeking an experienced Shawarma Chef to join our kitchen team. We are looking for someone who understands authentic Middle Eastern flavours, can consistently prepare high-quality shawarma and works efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
*Key Responsibilities*
- Prepare, season, stack and cook chicken and beef shawarma
- Safely operate and maintain vertical shawarma machines
- Slice and portion shawarma consistently according to company standards
- Prepare marinades, sauces, vegetables and other ingredients
- Assist with preparing Middle Eastern menu items as required
- Follow standardized recipes, portion sizes and presentation guidelines
- Monitor food quality, freshness and temperature
- Maintain a clean, organized and properly stocked workstation
- Follow all food-safety, sanitation and workplace-safety requirements
- Assist with inventory control and advise management when supplies are low
- Work closely with the kitchen team during busy service periods
*Requirements*
- Previous professional experience preparing shawarma is required
- Strong knowledge of shawarma marination, stacking, cooking and slicing
- Experience with Middle Eastern or Mediterranean cuisine is preferred
- Valid Food Handler Certificate, or willingness to obtain one
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining quality and consistency
- Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen cleanliness
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen supplies when required
- Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
