apiary technician
Education:
No degree, certificate or diploma.
Work site environment:
Other miscellaneous crop farming. Outdoors. Hot. Noisy. Odours. Wet/damp. All weather conditions. Work setting: Rural area. Staff accommodation provided. Remote location.
Tasks:
- Maintain the bee yard and beekeeping equipment.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
- Maintain work records and logs.
- Perform general farm duties.
- Interac with bees based on your knowledge of their biology, behaviour, ecology and caste system.
Supervision:
3-4 people. 1 to 2 people.
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses :
Not required.
Apiary and honey harvesting experience:
- Detect bee diseases .
- Harvest, extract and package honey and beeswax.
- Treat bees with antibiotics .
- Automated honey extractor.
- Apiary management.
- Harvesting honey.
- Honey farm.
Equipment and machinery experience:
- Farm truck.
- Forklift.
- Hand tools.
Transportation/travel information:
Vehicle supplied by employer. Valid driver's licence.
Work conditions and physical capabilities:
Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Handling heavy loads. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Hand-eye co-ordination. Bending, crouching, kneeling.
