We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Sheffield, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, helping them to access learning, regulate emotions and develop confidence within the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties
- Implementing individual education and behaviour support plans
- Encouraging positive behaviour and social development
- Providing emotional support and promoting independence
- Assisting with classroom activities and learning interventions
- Working collaboratively with staff, parents and external professionals
- Maintaining a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children with SEN/SEND (school, care or support setting)
- Is patient, resilient and enthusiastic
- Has strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Understands safeguarding and childsupport
- Can work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Holds relevant training (e.g. Safeguarding, SEND, Care or Education qualifications) desirable but not essential
