A quick note before reading: This is a hands-on, physical fabrication and prototyping role. If you are looking to do 3D character animation, VFX, or digital game assets, this is not that job. We are looking for a maker, prop builder, or physical prototype fabricator who loves turning digital files and raw materials into tangible, physical objects you can hold in your hands.Who We AreWe are a small, mission-driven manufacturer located in Tappan, NY, operating Health Edco (healthedco.com) and The Education & Outreach Company (educationandoutreach.com). We make hands-on educational displays, medical and anatomical teaching props, interactive models, and community outreach tools. Let's be honest: telling people your day job is building cross-section artery models, realistic health demonstration props, and educational displays right in a workshop is pretty cool. Why this job is unique and great: You make real, physical things: Your work ends up on tables in front of nurses, teachers, paramedics, and community health educators worldwide. It's tangible, durable, and directly educates people. You own the build from start to finish: From running multi-material 3D printers and 3D scanners to bench fabrication, sanding, casting, painting, and final assembly, you get to see ideas become finished products. No corporate red tape: You have direct input into how we build things. If you find a better filament, a smarter mold silicone, or an easier way to print a complex part, we listen and implement it. Real work-life balance: We respect personal lives. No one who works here misses family milestones, school concerts, or life events because of their job. A calm, productive shop: We value craftsmanship, patience, and getting things right the first time over rushed, sloppy work. Exactly what you will be doing: 3D Printing & Slicing: Operate and maintain desktop FDM/resin 3D printers; optimize orientation, infill, supports, and multi-material/color setups in slicers (Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Cura). Hands-on Post-Processing & Finishing: Clean, deburr, sand, assemble, glue, and finish 3D-printed parts into clean, durable demonstration models. Prop Fabrication & Mixed Media: Work with a mix of materials—plastics, urethanes, silicones, paints, and hardware—to create realistic textures and durable educational displays. Design New items: Work with our team to design new items. Shop Teamwork: Help test new designs for durability and lend a hand across the workshop or warehouse when big projects roll in, we're a tight-knit team and pitch in together. What we're looking for: A proven background in physical making: Experience in prop making, industrial model making, theatrical/film prop building, toy prototyping, trade show exhibit fabrication, or hobbyist/commercial 3D print farms. Solid 3D printer knowledge: You understand bed adhesion, retractions, print tolerances, layer adhesion, and how to troubleshoot print failures without panicking. Bench craftsmanship: You have steady hands for prep work, seam filling, sanding, primer/paint application, or small-part mechanical assembly. Functional digital modeling skills: Comfort with software used to prep and modify physical parts (Fusion 360, Blender, ZBrush, Rhino, or SolidWorks) with an understanding of real-world manufacturing constraints (not just rendering). Punctuality and reliability: We are an informal shop, but we take pride in accountability, self-direction, and keeping our workspace organized. Application Requirement (Important!):Along with your resume, you must include a link to photos or a portfolio of PHYSICAL projects you have built, printed, painted, or fabricated. Applications with only digital CGI renders, character animations, or video reels will not be reviewed. Please apply through the platform only.
