About the Role
Role Overview
proAV is a leading global audio-visual integrator, providing AV and event services across multiple client partnerships globally.
As a Graduate / Trainee Design Engineer, you'll join one of the UK's leading AV design teams, learning how world-class audiovisual systems are designed for some of the world's biggest organisations. You'll contribute to projects ranging from meeting rooms and collaboration spaces through to auditoriums, control rooms, broadcast environments and large-format LED installations. You'll receive structured mentoring, hands-on project experience and formal training while developing into a professional Design Engineer.
This role would suit a recent graduate, college leaver or someone with an interest in engineering, technology or design who enjoys solving problems, learning new skills and working as part of a team. Previous AV experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
The key tasks outlined below are indicative of the starting position but will build with the trainee’s development:
Develop an understanding of AV technologies and how different systems integrate.
Assist in producing AV schematic and M&E drawings, gradually taking ownership of your own projects as your experience develops.
Learn the engineering principles behind professional audiovisual system design.
Produce and revise technical drawings under supervision.
Assist with AV equipment selection, technical documentation and project deliverables.
Develop knowledge of IP networking, control systems, professional audio, video and unified communications technologies.
Participate in internal design reviews.
Maintain design quality and company standards.
Support project handovers.

During your training, you'll gain experience in:
AutoCAD
AV system schematics
Mechanical & electrical coordination
Audio, video and control systems
Microsoft Teams Rooms and UC technologies
LED display systems
IP networking
Site coordination
Design documentation
Industry standards and best practice
Successful trainees will naturally progress through structured development into Junior Design Engineer and Design Engineer roles and specialise in either M&E Design or Schematic Design, depending on their strengths and interests.
Hours of work
40 hours per week, 9 hours a day, 8.30am-5.30pm, including an hour unpaid break, Monday-Friday.
