Senior Operational Communications Engineer Glasgow, Scotland £350 per day (Outside IR35) 6-Month Initial Contract 1 in 12 On-Call Rota Paid Overtime Available The Opportunity We are currently supporting a large public sector organisation responsible for delivering critical operational services across Scotland. They are seeking an experienced Senior Operational Communications Engineer to join their specialist technology team on an initial 6-month contract. This role will focus on supporting and enhancing mission-critical communications infrastructure, ensuring essential operational systems remain available, secure and fully functional. Key Responsibilities Provide expert 3rd line support across operational communications platforms. Lead the investigation and resolution of complex technical incidents. Support the maintenance, monitoring and enhancement of critical communications systems. Contribute to system upgrades, lifecycle management and continuous improvement initiatives. Assist with disaster recovery, business continuity and resilience planning. Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers within the team. Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rota. Experience Required We're interested in speaking with candidates who have experience supporting one or more of the following: TETRA or radio communications systems Control room environments Mobilisation or dispatch platforms Telephony and VoIP technologies Airwave or ESN environments VHF/UHF radio systems Satellite communications Mobile data terminal (MDT) technologies Critical operational or emergency communications infrastructure About You Strong background in communications, telecommunications, radio or operational technology environments. Proven experience supporting business-critical systems. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment. Previous experience providing technical leadership, mentoring or support to engineering teams.
