Developer - Proof of Concept

Expertise Contract | Outside IR35 | 12 weeks | Hybrid, London

We’re building a small multidisciplinary team for an Alpha project with a central government department, and we need a developer who has prior experience working on Alpha / Discovery Projects and enjoys building things quickly to test an idea.

The department runs three knowledge platforms, each with its own technology, access model and technical debt. The purpose of this project will decide whether to bring them together, connect them more closely, or leave them as they are.

You’ll work with a Technical Architect, researcher and designer to turn the options into prototypes that real users can test. That could mean single sign-on across systems, joined-up search, or AI-assisted search.

What we’re looking for

• Development experience on government Alpha or Discovery projects, working to the GDS Service Standard
• A track record of rapid prototyping or proof of concept work
• Experience with APIs and integrating systems that weren’t designed to talk to each other
• Comfortable in an agile environment

It would be great if you also had

• Microsoft 365, SharePoint or Azure experience
• Exposure to enterprise search, identity or single sign-on
• Some hands-on experience with AI or LLM tooling
• Experience with CMS platforms
