Tour Dates: November 2026 - December 2026

About the Role

Blue Man Group, part of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, is seeking a flexible, reliable, and hands-on Technical Swing for the 2026 A New Holiday Surprise Touring production.

The Technical Swing supports multiple technical departments—including Carpentry, Lighting, Video, Audio/MIT, Props, and Wardrobe—by learning and performing backstage running tracks, assisting with load-ins and loadouts, and maintaining equipment and show integrity across all tour stops. This highly collaborative role ensures continuity in performance operations by stepping into various tracks as needed and assisting department heads in daily technical and logistical execution.

Key Responsibilities

Show Operations and Coverage Learn and maintain familiarity with backstage running tracks across all technical departments to provide coverage as needed. Execute show cues, turnovers, and post-show resets in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. Participate in daily maintenance and repair tasks to uphold the show’s creative and operational standards. Assist department heads in troubleshooting show elements and ensuring smooth technical performance. Support special events, rehearsals, and press performances as directed by the Production Manager.

Load-In, Load-Out, and Touring Support Assist with the assembly, setup, and teardown of scenic, lighting, video, audio, props, and wardrobe elements during load-ins and loadouts. Participate in truck loading and unloading, maintaining safe handling and organization of show assets. Adapt to venue-specific requirements while maintaining consistency and safety standards. Collaborate with local crews, assisting with training and supervision under the direction of department heads.

Maintenance and Equipment Care Assist with regular inspection, repair, and upkeep of technical systems and equipment across departments. Maintain accurate notes, checklists, and cue documentation for assigned tracks and department coverage. Support inventory management and restocking of technical supplies and consumables.

Safety and Collaboration Champion and adhere to all Blue Man Group and CDSEG health and safety policies across all technical operations. Follow safe lifting, rigging, electrical, and operational practices always. Promote a proactive safety culture that prioritizes the well-being of performers, crew, and local staff. Foster a collaborative, respectful, and positive backstage environment.

Key Attributes Highly adaptable and eager to learn new skills across departments. Calm and focused under pressure with strong troubleshooting abilities. Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Proactive, reliable, and hands-on. Committed to maintaining the integrity, safety, and quality of each performance.

Qualifications 2–3 years of professional experience in technical theatre, touring, or live entertainment. Working knowledge of at least one technical discipline (carpentry, lighting, audio, props, video, or wardrobe); willingness to learn others. Familiarity with backstage operations, cue tracks, and performance support in a live environment. Comfortable working at heights and using hand and power tools. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. safely, climb ladders, and work on your feet for extended periods. Touring experience preferred. Must be able to travel domestically for extended periods (Nov 2026–Dec 2026) and maintain eligibility for U.S. employment and travel.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt touring contract offering a competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus benefits during active tour periods.
