Backup Administrator

About the role:

We are seeking a skilled backup administrator specializing in Commvault and Veeam to join our IT team in Jeddah. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and support of enterprise backup and recovery solutions across physical, virtual, and cloud environments, ensuring data protection, compliance with RPO targets, and high availability of critical systems.

Responsibilities:

Design, deploy, and maintain Commvault Complete Backup and Recovery environments

Configure and manage Veeam Backup & Replication for virtual and physical workloads

Perform regular backup and restore operations for Windows and Linux servers

Implement data protection strategies to meet defined RPO and RTO targets

Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and optimize performance

Manage backups for VMware and Hyper-V virtual infrastructures

Coordinate and implement cloud-based backup solutions (AWS, Azure, etc.)

Conduct periodic disaster recovery tests and ensure readiness

Maintain documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures

Apply patches, upgrades, and perform capacity planning for backup infrastructure

Collaborate with cross-functional teams for change management following ITIL practices

Required qualifications:

3-5 years of hands-on experience in enterprise backup administration

Proven expertise with Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery

Strong knowledge of Veeam Backup & Replication

Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux administration

Experience managing VMware and Hyper-V backup solutions

Solid understanding of data protection principles and storage technologies

Familiarity with cloud backup architectures and services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

Working knowledge of ITIL framework and change management processes

Experience with Microsoft server technologies (Active Directory, SQL Server, Exchange)

Deep understanding of RPO/RTO concepts and implementation

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

Commvault Certified Professional (CCP) or equivalent certification

Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)

ITIL Foundation certification

Experience with storage vendor platforms (NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage)

Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash)

Familiarity with container and application-aware backup solutions

Previous experience in a GCC or Saudi Arabian enterprise environment
