Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Plan, supervise, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities for mechanical equipment and production machinery.

Maintain and troubleshoot potato chips production lines, including conveyors, elevators, slicers, washers, fryers, seasoning machines, packaging machines, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical systems.

Diagnose mechanical faults and perform timely repairs to minimize production downtime.

Conduct regular inspections of machinery and identify potential mechanical problems before equipment failure.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules according to equipment manufacturers’ recommendations and production requirements.

Monitor the condition and performance of rotating equipment, bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts, shafts, valves, and pumps.

Coordinate with the production and electrical maintenance teams to ensure smooth and continuous operation of production lines.

Supervise maintenance technicians and ensure that maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently.

Maintain records of maintenance activities, equipment breakdowns, spare parts, and repair history.

Analyze recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.

Ensure proper lubrication of mechanical equipment and maintain lubrication schedules.

Inspect and manage mechanical spare parts and coordinate with the stores department to ensure availability of critical components.

Assist in the installation, commissioning, modification, and upgrading of production machinery and mechanical systems.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, food safety, and hygiene requirements during maintenance activities.

Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime, maintenance costs, and energy consumption.

Follow proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety requirements before carrying out maintenance work.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.

2–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.

Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance principles and preventive and corrective maintenance practices.

Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining industrial production machinery and equipment.

Good knowledge of conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, chains, belts, valves, compressors, and other mechanical systems.

Experience with food processing and packaging machinery is highly preferred.

Good understanding of preventive maintenance planning and maintenance schedules.

Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and identify root causes of equipment failures.

Good knowledge of maintenance tools, equipment, and safety procedures.

Familiarity with CMMS or maintenance management systems is an advantage.

Good knowledge of occupational health, safety, and food safety requirements.

Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, manuals, and equipment specifications.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to emergency breakdowns.

Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime when required.

Good computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to supervise and coordinate maintenance technicians and contractors.
