Business Studies Tutor

Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging Business Studies lessons in line with the school curriculum and students’ learning needs. Teach key areas of Business Studies, including commerce, office practice, entrepreneurship, business communication, consumer education, and basic financial literacy. Explain business concepts using practical examples, case studies, discussions, and real-life business situations. Develop students’ entrepreneurial mindset, critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, assignments, tests, examinations, and revision exercises. Provide practical activities that help students understand how businesses and commercial organisations operate. Teach students basic principles of buying and selling, trade, banking, insurance, transportation, communication, and business documentation. Introduce students to basic entrepreneurial skills, including identifying business opportunities, planning, budgeting, marketing, and customer service. Assess students’ understanding and academic progress regularly and provide constructive feedback. Identify students’ learning difficulties and provide appropriate support, remediation, and additional guidance. Prepare students adequately for internal and external examinations, including relevant WAEC, NECO, and other examinations. Encourage students to develop responsible financial habits and an understanding of ethical business practices. Use appropriate teaching aids, technology, and digital resources to enhance students’ learning experience. Maintain accurate records of students’ attendance, assessments, performance, and academic progress. Maintain a disciplined, inclusive, and conducive learning environment. Participate in departmental meetings, academic programmes, school activities, and professional development programmes. Keep abreast of developments in business education, entrepreneurship, commerce, and relevant curriculum requirements. Perform other duties that may reasonably be assigned by the School Management.

Requirements:

 A Bachelor’s Degree/HND in Business Education, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, or a related field. Relevant teaching or tutoring experience is an added advantage. Strong knowledge of Business Studies and related commercial subjects. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom-management skills. Ability to simplify business concepts and relate them to practical, real-world situations. Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to use relevant educational technology and digital teaching tools. Creativity, patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for teaching and students’ development.
