The Opportunity
As Engineering Specialist, Process, you will support manufacturing process engineering for a new battery pack assembly plant. Your focus will be continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity. You will apply sound engineering principles and analytical techniques to set up and improve processes and products. You will also lead process audits, resolve assembly concerns, and drive variability reduction and Lean initiatives. You will help keep the plant compliant with plant, corporate, government and environmental standards, working with teams across a new and growing site.
The role starts remotely and moves onsite in Jeffersonville, Indiana. During construction, you may attend onsite meetings or work from a temporary onsite office.
What You'll Do
Support manufacturing process engineering for battery pack assembly
Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity; find throughput constraints and lead root-cause improvements
Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to set up and improve processes and products
Build action plans to investigate and prioritize quality concerns, and verify corrective actions on internal and supplier processes
Lead process audits to maintain process discipline in line with plant operating standards
Conduct ergonomic job evaluations and implement corrective actions
Analyze root causes of battery pack inventory discrepancies, take part in mapping exercises, and implement fixes to reduce inventory
Develop process and instruction sheets that support quality methods
Deliver capable processes and tools for battery pack assembly operations
Lead resolution of assembly concerns, including variability reduction and Lean best practices
Ensure compliance with plant, corporate, government and environmental standards, including ISO 14001; support internal ISO audits as needed
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
2+ years of related experience
Ability and willingness to work off-shift schedules
Nice to Have
Master's degree in Engineering
3–5 years of battery pack assembly experience
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
Proficiency with Lean tools, including 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke and Value Stream Mapping
Experience with DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) project methods
Familiarity with Total Quality Management (TQM) and Kaizen
Experience with FMEA, PPAP and Design of Experiments (DOE)
Experience with visual factory management
Proficiency in 8D and 5-Why problem solving
Knowledge of ergonomic analysis
Strong leadership, interpersonal, team-building, written and verbal communication skills
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $74,300 – $166,200. This position includes a comprehensive benefits package. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
