About SonderMind

At SonderMind, we know that therapy works. SonderMind provides accessible, personalized mental healthcare that produces high-quality outcomes for patients. SonderMind's individualized approach to care starts with using innovative technology to help people not just find a therapist, but find the right, in-network therapist for them, should they choose to use their insurance. From there, SonderMind's clinicians are committed to delivering best-in-class care to all patients by focusing on high-quality clinical outcomes. To enable our clinicians to thrive, SonderMind defines care expectations while providing tools such as clinical note-taking, secure telehealth capabilities, outcome measurement, messaging, and direct booking. At SonderMind, we are revolutionizing mental healthcare by leveraging technology to provide personalized and effective mental health solutions.

About the Role

At SonderMind, we believe that an exceptional employee experience fuels performance, belonging, and growth. As a People Business Partner, you’ll serve as a strategic and operational HR leader to executives, managers, and teams, helping to build the programs, processes, and moments that define how our people strategies aligned to business priorities come to life.

You bring deep HR expertise, sound judgment, and a bias for action. Whether you’re coaching leaders through organizational change, partnering on performance or development planning, or supporting program design that scales a strong and connected culture, you approach each interaction as an opportunity to strengthen employee engagement, experience, and enable teams to drive high-quality business outcomes.

You’re skilled at proactively diagnosing issues, anticipating needs, and building practical solutions that balance empathy and accountability. You also understand and work with our internal team members to ensure our programs are consistent, data-informed, and aligned to SonderMind’s values.

Your partnership helps leaders grow, teams perform, and every SonderMinder have the opportunity to make this a career-defining place to work.

What you'll do

  • Act as the primary strategic HR partner for our non-exempt support, service, finance and legal functional leaders, from line managers to executives
  • Design and deliver targeted solutions with a high degree of focus on scale and growth, including strategic planning, visioning, performance management, talent assessment, change management, and team building
  • Manage and facilitate company programming, like but not limited to: Career Connect (performance reviews), calibrations, manager workshops, and engagement survey readouts/action planning
  • Support business priorities with people strategies by diagnosing organizational needs, identifying talent gaps, and partnering with leaders to design and implement practical talent solutions that scale
  • Leverage your expertise to perform as a functional SME in one or more areas of the People function for SonderMind, being a critical leader in that space
  • Use insights and data to anticipate people-related challenges, propose proactive solutions, and contribute to the People Team strategy and planning
  • Manage HRIS updates, employee records, and update operational workflows to ensure data accuracy and a smooth employee experience; leverage AI-based tools to replace tasks or do work more effectively

Success in this role

At the end of your first 90 days, you’ve:

  • Handled multiple transactions and HR operational processes independently (onboarding, offboarding, performance management conversations, etc.)
  • You’ve established a strong foundation with leaders in the business and positioned yourself as their thought-partner and confidant for basic coaching, guidance, etc.
  • You’ve gathered initial employee sentiment (formally or informally), surfaced insights to the People team leadership, and have accomplished one significant organizational or programmatic win
  • You have a strong understanding of our business and can speak to the nuances of what we do and who we are, as well as our senior leadership.

After 90 days, ongoing, success looks like:

  • You handle HR transactions and processes independently, with a high degree of accuracy and employee-centric service
  • You have a working model for developing, analyzing, and iterating on initiatives to enhance engagement and retention
  • Leaders routinely meet with you or seek your counsel when it comes to talent initiatives within their organization
  • You play a visible role in reinforcing SonderMind’s culture - recognizing milestones, celebrating wins, connecting employees to purpose, and strengthening a sense of belonging
  • You are a role model for a continuous-improvement mindset and drive data-driven, independent organizational improvements, with a strong focus on engagement and retention
