Consultant Ophthalmologist
Key responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic examinations and diagnose eye conditions.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings.
Perform ophthalmic surgical and medical procedures within the candidate’s area of expertise.
Manage complex and emergency ophthalmic cases.
Perform pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-up.
Interpret relevant ophthalmic imaging and diagnostic investigations.
Work collaboratively with optometrists, ophthalmologists, and other medical specialists.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records.
Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, and patient-safety initiatives.
Mentor junior doctors and contribute to teaching and training.
Requirements
Medical degree with recognised postgraduate qualification in ophthalmology.
Consultant-level clinical experience.
American, Canadian, Australian, Irish Board, CCT/CCST or equivalent preferred.
Strong experience in a hospital or tertiary ophthalmology setting.
DHA / DoH / MOHAP licence or eligibility preferred.
Excellent clinical, surgical, communication, and patient-management skills.
