We are seeking a dedicated Housing Support Worker to assist clients transitioning from temporary accommodation to more permanent and suitable housing options such as supported accommodation, social housing, and private sector rentals. The role is crucial in ensuring that appropriate ongoing support is in place to facilitate successful tenancies.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Act as a key worker for various households either staying in temporary accommodation or classified as ‘homeless at home’.
  • Provide short-term support to households identified by the Housing Options team who are at a strong risk of homelessness.
  • Assess client needs and develop and implement tailored support plans.
  • Assist clients in accessing benefits, health, and social care entitlements.
  • Ensure compliance with licence agreements among residents and take necessary actions if breaches occur.
  • Support clients in securing and transitioning into settled accommodation and provide continued support for up to six months if necessary.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g., youth work, social care, housing, criminal justice) or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes (adjustments considered for candidates with disabilities).
  • Proven experience working with vulnerable individuals including singles and families, addressing issues such as mental and physical health, substance misuse, financial difficulties, and domestic abuse.
  • Strong communication skills and knowledge of welfare benefits.
  • Proficiency in using IT packages, including standard Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience in housing support work and multi-agency collaboration.
