We are seeking a Head of Sales to lead and develop our sales team, manage key customer accounts, and drive overall sales performance across the business. This senior leadership role offers a clear progression path to Sales Director and the opportunity to significantly influence sales strategy and growth within the meat production sector.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the sales team, setting individual and team targets and holding the team accountable for performance.
  • Manage a portfolio of key customer accounts and achieve sales targets across wholesale, retail, and foodservice sectors.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with customers including wholesalers, retailers, butchers, and foodservice buyers.
  • Set daily sales direction for the team, sharing product knowledge, sales techniques, and best practices.
  • Own market intelligence on meat pricing trends, seasonal demand, and supply issues, and translate this into effective sales strategies and team guidance.
  • Identify and develop new customer segments, products, and sales approaches to grow revenue.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and traceability requirements across all customer dealings.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training for new sales hires.
  • Report performance, forecasts, and market insights to the Managing Director, contributing directly to wider commercial and sales strategies.
  • Act as a key link between the sales team and senior leadership, deputising for the Sales Director where required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of sales leadership, ideally within the meat, food production, or FMCG sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or leading a sales team, with a strong track record of developing people.
  • Strong commercial understanding of the meat supply chain and buyer relationships.
  • Strategic thinker, able to balance personal accounts with leading and developing a team.
  • Comfortable reporting to and working closely with senior leadership (Sales Director/MD).
  • Full UK driving licence.
