Structural Steel Shop Lead Location: Cocoa Beach, FL Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Starting Pay: $30/hour, with higher pay available based on experience Position Overview Seeking an experienced shop lead to coordinate structural steel fabrication activities and support day-to-day production. This hands-on position guides fitters, welders, and fabrication personnel while helping keep work on schedule, meeting quality requirements, and maintaining a safe shop.

Responsibilities Coordinate daily shop activities and help meet production and shipping schedules.

Direct and support structural steel fitters, welders, and fabrication personnel.

Assign work and adjust workloads based on production priorities.

Provide technical support with fit-up, welding, layout, and blueprint interpretation.

Address fabrication problems and production issues as they occur.

Track workflow and communicate production status, delays, and schedule changes.

Enforce safety procedures, quality requirements, and shop policies.

Work with maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime.

Coordinate with Quality Control on inspections and fabrication requirements.

Assist with dimensional measurements, inspections, and required documentation.

Help train and onboard employees and support their development.

Keep the shop organized, clean, and safe.

Perform other supervisory and shop duties as needed.

Qualifications 3+ years of experience leading or supervising structural steel fabrication teams.

Strong hands-on knowledge of welding, fit-up, layout, and structural steel fabrication .

Experience using CNC fabrication equipment and shop machinery .

Ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings, blueprints, and fabrication details.

Understanding of workplace safety, quality standards, and production processes.

Tekla EPM/GO experience preferred.

Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or flexible hours when production requires.
