Data Engineer

Job Description

• Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT data pipelines to integrate data from various source systems into the Data Warehouse.
• Design and implement data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading processes from databases, APIs, flat files, logs, and third-party platforms.
• Develop and maintain data models, reporting datasets, fact tables, dimension tables, and data marts to support operational reporting and analytics.
• Collaborate with business and application teams to translate reporting requirements, KPIs, and business rules into data logic and technical solutions.
• Perform data quality checks, reconciliation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization to ensure data accuracy, completeness, reliability, and timely reporting.
• Support daily operational reports related to sales, orders, customers, campaigns, loyalty, inventory, fulfillment, SLA, and operational KPIs.
• Monitor production data pipelines, resolve data/reporting issues, and maintain technical documentation, source-to-target mappings, data lineage, and transformation logic.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in Reporting Engineering, ETL development, Data Warehousing, BI Data Preparation, or related roles.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, including joins, aggregations, window functions, query optimization, and stored procedures.
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT development, Data Warehouse/Data Mart, and data pipeline orchestration or scheduling tools.
• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or similar.
• Good understanding of data modeling, including fact tables, dimension tables, star schema, snowflake schema, and reporting layers.
• Basic scripting skills using Python, Shell, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Metabase, or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in data quality, reconciliation, reporting discrepancies, and source-system inconsistencies.
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with business users, application teams, and database teams.
• Experience supporting production data pipelines and operational reporting environments.
• Preferred: Experience with eCommerce, Retail, CRM, Loyalty, Campaign Management, OMS, or Customer Data Platforms.
• Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms such as Alibaba Cloud, AWS, or GCP and modern data tools such as Airflow, Spark, Kafka, or Flink.
