About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Major duties

  • Serves as the primary administrative point of contact, coordinating a wide range of support activities across personnel, budget, procurement, and travel.
  • Manages office operations by coordinating actions, balancing competing priorities, and recommending practical solutions to ensure timely and effective completion of mission requirements.
  • Administers timekeeping and travel support, including processing timecards, preparing travel authorizations and vouchers, and managing travel charge card records.
  • Provides direct personnel support by advising staff on procedures for performance appraisals, awards, and training, and serving as a liaison with human resources.
  • Manages procurement and budget support functions, including reviewing purchase requests, monitoring obligations, and verifying financial documents for accuracy.
  • Develops and finalizes a variety of documents, including reports, correspondence, charts, and statistical summaries, using multiple office automation software applications.
  • Reviews and edits all outgoing correspondence and documentation to ensure compliance with standards, correct grammar, clarity, and overall quality

Qualifications

Specialized Experience (GS-07): One year of specialized experience which includes working in an administrative setting; arranging meeting/conferences; interacting with customers/staff over the phone and in person; utilizing automated healthcare systems to generate a variety of correspondence and reports and/or update data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
