electrical design engineer
The Electrical Designer will be responsible for determining project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements and performance standards; coordinating activities with the project manager; completing technical specification reviews; supporting cost estimates; and preparation of bill of materials.
*Intermediate - Role and Responsibilities*
- Obtain all required project documents, Maintain project deadlines
- Preparation of technical documents
- Independently design complex control systems, power distribution, electrical interfaces, and electronic systems.
- Bill of materials (BOM): Generating precise materials lists, component specification, and parts requisitions usings internal inventory or ERP programs
- Perform design calculations, verification, and technical reviews
- Electrical Calculations: Ability to compute power loads, circuit breaker sizes, cable ratings, and voltage drops.
- Ensure designs meet project requirements and applicable standards
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes to be applied to the designs
- Develop complete schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable systems, I/O architecture, and interconnections documentation
- Startup & commissioning support
- Service support, Sales and applications support
- Assist junior designers and Guide Co-ops
- Integrate & Communicate with Mechanical designers to ensure cohesive designs
- Strong communication, organization and technical leadership skills
*Qualifications and Education Requirements*
- Minimum 2 to 3-year College Diploma technician/technologist and/or University Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent.
- 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in Automation, manufacturing equipment, or custom machinery
- Strong experience with Electrical schematics, controls systems, wiring, power distribution, and system integration
- Proficient in AutoCAD software; Electrical CAD software is required (EPLAN), MS Office
- Mechanical schematic interpretation, Mechanical theory and application required.
- Works with minimum supervision.
- Self-motivated problem solver, with attention to details
- Accurate documentation generation.
- Working knowledge of applicable machine electrical and safety standards, including relevant CSA requirements, NFPA,OSHA
- Valid Driver?s License and the ability/willingness to travel
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
Pay: $62,100.75-$73,000.00 per year
