About Korrency Korrency is a cross-border remittance company. Through our mobile app, African diaspora customers in Canada, the UK and Europe send money home to Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and other African countries quickly and safely. Korrency Exchange Inc. is registered with FINTRAC as a money services business and with the Bank of Canada as a payment service provider. Most of our team works remotely from Nigeria.

The role

You will join a small compliance team that keeps our customers and our platform safe. You will review alerts, investigate unusual activity, check and screen customers, and write up your findings clearly enough that a regulator could follow them. You will work closely with our Compliance Officer and Senior Compliance Analyst.

What you will do

  • Review daily transaction monitoring alerts, investigate flagged activity, and record a clear decision on every case.
  • Draft suspicious transaction reports (STRs) for the Compliance Officer to review and sign off.
  • Review KYC documents for new and existing customers, and carry out enhanced due diligence (EDD) on higher-risk customers.
  • Clear sanctions and PEP screening alerts, and keep screening records up to date.
  • Help investigate payment disputes, chargebacks and fraud reports, including sending requests for information to customers.
  • Respond to compliance questions from customers and payment partners.
  • Keep case files, trackers and compliance records complete and ready for audit.
  • Produce weekly compliance figures, such as alert volumes, KYC reviews and turnaround times.

What we are looking for

  • 2 to 4 years in AML, KYC, fraud or compliance at a bank, fintech, payments or remittance company.
  • Hands-on experience investigating alerts and writing up findings, including drafting STRs or SARs.
  • Experience with customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence.
  • Working knowledge of sanctions and PEP screening.
  • Strong written English. Your case notes and STR drafts must be clear and able to stand up to review.
  • Organised and reliable. You close cases, keep trackers current and follow through without being chased.
  • B.Sc. or HND in any discipline, with NYSC completed or exempted.
  • Your own laptop, reliable internet and power backup for full-time remote work.

Nice to have

  • Experience in cross-border payments or remittance.
  • DCP (Compliance Institute of Nigeria), CAMS, ICA or a similar certification.
  • Familiarity with CBN and NFIU requirements and goAML, and an interest in Canadian (FINTRAC) or UK AML rules.
  • Experience with KYC and screening tools such as Smile ID, Onfido, Sumsub, ComplyAdvantage or World-Check.

About the engagement

  • Independent contractor engagement, full-time hours, fully remote.
  • ₦400,000 to ₦500,000 per month, depending on experience, paid monthly in Naira. As a contractor, you invoice monthly and handle your own tax and pension.
  • Regular overlap with Canadian (Toronto) business hours.

Korrency welcomes applications from people of every background.
