Interior Decorator

Responsibilities:

Consult with clients to understand their design preferences, needs, lifestyle, and budget. Develop interior decoration concepts, themes, colour schemes, and décor plans. Select appropriate furniture, fabrics, curtains, wall finishes, lighting, accessories, and decorative materials. Prepare mood boards, design concepts, and visual presentations for clients. Recommend suitable furniture layouts, colour combinations, textures, and decorative elements. Source and coordinate the procurement of furniture, fittings, accessories, and décor materials. Visit project sites to assess spaces, take measurements, and supervise decoration activities. Coordinate with carpenters, POP installers, painters, electricians, tilers, upholsterers, and other artisans. Ensure furniture, curtains, artwork, lighting, and decorative items are properly installed and arranged. Monitor project progress and ensure work is completed according to approved designs. Maintain awareness of current interior design trends, materials, styles, and products. Manage project budgets and ensure materials are sourced cost-effectively. Inspect completed work to ensure quality, functionality, and aesthetic standards are met. Maintain good relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors, and other project stakeholders. Prepare project quotations, material lists, and cost estimates where required. Ensure project sites are clean, organized, and properly finished before handover.

Requirements:

OND, or relevant qualification in Interior Design, Interior Decoration, Fine Arts, Architecture, or a related field. Proven years of experience in interior decoration or related work. Strong knowledge of furniture, fabrics, colours, lighting, finishes, and decorative materials. Creative mindset with excellent visual and aesthetic judgment. Ability to develop attractive and practical interior concepts. Good knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D Max, Revit, or similar tools is an advantage. Strong communication and client-management skills. Good project coordination and organizational abilities. Strong attention to detail and quality. Ability to work within budgets and project deadlines. Good negotiation and supplier-management skills. Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple artisans and contractors. A portfolio of completed interior decoration projects is an advantage.
