Accountabilities: The Sr. Electrical Engineer will lead engineering activities for physical substation projects, supporting project execution from conceptual design through final deliverables. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and other engineering disciplines.

Lead the engineering effort for new and ongoing medium- and high-voltage substation projects.

Develop conceptual designs, execution plans, project schedules, and cost estimates.

Prepare construction drawings, technical documents, calculations, studies, and engineering reports for substation and power system projects.

Provide technical delivery oversight to ensure projects meet internal quality standards and client expectations.

Perform and document quality reviews of engineering designs, calculations, and deliverables created by engineers and designers.

Apply engineering principles, standards, and best practices to develop reliable and efficient solutions.

Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, including civil, structural, protection and controls, and transmission line specialists.

Interpret and apply industry standards such as IEEE, IEC, NESC, and client-specific requirements.

Support project planning, technical decision-making, and successful completion of engineering assignments.

Maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and high-quality project execution.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced electrical engineering professional with a strong background in physical substation design and high-voltage power systems. They should have demonstrated technical leadership capabilities, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage complex engineering assignments.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

8+ years of experience in substation physical engineering.

Extensive knowledge of physical substation design and engineering practices.

Experience designing high-voltage substations ranging from 12kV through 500kV.

Ability to interpret and apply engineering standards, including IEEE, IEC, NESC, and client standards.

Strong understanding of power delivery systems, electrical design principles, and engineering calculations.

Experience preparing technical reports, studies, construction documents, and project deliverables.

Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Experience with relay settings and protection and controls is a plus.
