Senior Power Electronics Engineer
Develop advanced power electronics for high-performance laser systems
Do you want to work hands-on with power electronics in a highly specialized R&D environment, developing solutions used in advanced laser and photonics technologies?
Hamamatsu Photonics A/S is expanding its R&D organization and is looking for a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to strengthen its electronics capabilities.
About the Company
Hamamatsu Photonics is a global leader in photonics, laser and fibre technologies, employing more than 5,800 people worldwide.
Following the acquisition of NKT Photonics in 2024, the former NKT Photonics organisation now operates as the Lasers & Fibers Business Unit within the Hamamatsu Photonics Group, supporting applications within Quantum Technologies, Life Sciences, Semiconductors, Aerospace & Defence and Advanced Industrial Technologies.
Responsibilities
As Senior Power Electronics Engineer, you will take ownership of electronics development across the full product lifecycle—from early concept and design to validation, production, and optimization.
You will work in a multidisciplinary R&D environment, contributing to both detailed design and system-level solutions. This is a deeply technical, hands-on role with high ownership.
The role is based in Birkerød, Denmark and reports to the Team Lead Electronics.
Key responsibilities:
Design and develop power electronics for laser systems across the full product lifecycle
Own technical work packages and ensure delivery within scope, timeline, and quality targets
Develop system-level electronics architectures and design concepts
Collaborate closely with experts in optics, mechanics, and system design
Create reference designs to support scalability and standardization
Support manufacturing, custom solutions, and product improvements
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and certification requirements
What you will be doing (in practice)
Working on low-volume, high-margin, high-complexity systems
Translating unclear or evolving customer requirements into robust technical solutions
Contributing to both detailed circuit design and overall system performance
Taking ownership of solutions from idea → design → validation → production
