Drilling Rig Foreman

Job Description

We are seeking a drilling foreman to join our unconventional resources drilling department (URDD). The candidate's primary role will be to supervise field operations of land drilling and workover rigs, engaged in carrying programmed work on deep or otherwise critical wells.

Supervises and oversees the operations of a contract rig performing drilling or remedial work on wells ranging from 18,000 to 23,000 feet. The incumbent will ensure that the contractor performs the work in a safe and acceptable manner, and that the contractor meets all the obligations of their contract. Coordinates deliveries of well materials and equipment and ensures it is available when the rig is ready for it.

The drilling rig foreman administers the contracts on site and serves as the primary liaison between the company and the contractor.

Ensures all rig personnel and service providers comply with Saudi Aramco safety standards and requirements.

Supervises and oversees all operations performed on wells.

Makes recommendations on alternative methods or equipment when unusual situations are encountered.

Coordinates deliveries of materials to the well to ensure availability when required.

Ensures that the contractor meets all requirements of their contract.

Works with drilling and workover engineers to ensure that modern drilling practices are followed.

Approves contractor daily tour reports.

Ensures that contractor rig and equipment are properly maintained to avoid downtime.

Performs other miscellaneous duties as directed by the superintendent.

Ensures that Saudi Aramco blowout prevention standards are met in all respects including equipment configuration, testing, and crew response. Assures that rig and personnel comply with Saudi Aramco established safety standards and procedures.

Requirements

B.S. degree in engineering with five years of experience working in drilling and workover operations including adequate supervisory experience on a drilling or workover rig.

Proven experience supervising land drilling and workover rigs, including deep and critical well operations.

Strong knowledge of drilling operations, well control, blowout prevention (BOP), and rig safety standards.

Experience managing contractors, coordinating field operations, and ensuring compliance with operational and HSE requirements.

Willingness to work in remote locations and stay in mobile camps on a 28/28 rotational schedule.
