Technical Business Analyst – Middle Office

We are seeking a Technical Business Analyst to support the Middle Office workstream of our front-to-back trading and technology platform build-out across Order/Trade Management (OT), Trade Order & Allocation Management (TOAM), and Enterprise Data Management (EDM). This role translates requirements from Middle Office, Operations, Valuation, and Risk teams into functional designs and configuration specifications for engineering and Product Specialists to build, ensuring the platform's MO/Ops workflows are correctly designed, configured, and tested end to end. The role works closely with the Technology PM, Solution Architect, Product Specialists, and engineering, and is expected to make use of AI-assisted tools to accelerate requirements analysis, documentation, and specification work.

Key Responsibilities

Gather requirements from Middle Office, Operations, Valuation, and Risk teams, including trade processing, position keeping, valuation, reconciliation, and reporting needs on the platform.

Facilitate requirement workshops and working sessions with MO, Operations, Valuation, and Risk stakeholders to capture current-state pain points and future-state process needs.

Translate business needs into functional designs, process workflows, and system configuration specifications for engineering and Product Specialists.

Document business rules, exception-handling flows, and control requirements for Middle Office and Operations processes.

Clarify standard product setup vs. custom build requirements, and distinguish between configuration, customization, and vendor-extension options, escalating design trade-offs to the Technology PM / Solution Architect where needed.

Support SIT, QA, UAT, and go-live testing by preparing test scenarios, scripts, and test data aligned to MO/Ops requirements, and validating outcomes against expected results.

Track defects arising from testing, coordinate retesting with engineering, and support go-live/cutover readiness checks from an MO/Ops perspective.

Produce clear, structured documentation — process flows, functional specifications, configuration specs, and requirements traceability matrices — to support build and sign-off.

Partner with the delivery lead to maintain the backlog and groom user stories from an MO/Ops requirements and data quality lens.

Leverage AI-assisted tools and reasoning assistants to speed up requirements drafting, documentation, and analysis.

Job Requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related discipline preferred.

4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting Middle Office, Operations, Valuations, or Risk functions in a bank, asset manager, or hedge fund.

Strong understanding of the trade and position lifecycle — trade capture, valuation, position keeping, reconciliation, and settlement — and how MO/Ops processes fit within it.

Proven experience translating business requirements into functional designs, workflow specifications, and system configuration documents.

Ability to distinguish between standard product configuration, customization, and custom build, and to work effectively with Product Specialists and engineering on design decisions.

Hands-on experience preparing test scenarios and scripts, and validating outcomes across SIT, QA, and UAT test cycles.

Comfortable producing structured documentation: process flows, requirement specs, configuration specs, and requirements traceability matrices.

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work across MO, Operations, Risk, engineering, and Product Specialist teams.

Experience with tools such as Jira and Confluence (or equivalent), along with exposure to diagramming/documentation tools such as draw.io, Mermaid, or Visio, is a plus.

Experience using AI-driven tools to support requirements analysis, documentation, or test preparation is a plus.
