Join the power movement as a Staff Supply Chain Engineer - Molten Salts The Staff Supply Chain Engineer role with business units such as supply chain, design engineering, quality and project management, to own technical supplier development, quality assurance, auditing, and continuous manufacturing improvement. This individual is expected to understand the technical requirements and be able to provide solutions based on the data and their expertise. This person will primarily lead these efforts in the R&D space of the supply chain for molten salts.
What you'll do: Partner with suppliers to improve quality, delivery, manufacturing, and inventory performance
Conduct new supplier audits and review technical quality documentation
Conduct onsite visits for supplier problem-solving, root cause analysis, cross-functional resolution, and general development activities
Manage quality issues (Non-Conformance Reports - NCRs)
Support procurement and or engineering activities (QC, defining quality/technical requirements, input to supplier selection and supplier relationship management)
Develop and implement reliability improvements in designs and manufacturing
Provide technical reviews and advising for design efforts specifically related to drawings, specifications, and material requirements
Collaborate with other engineers, subject matter experts on manufacturing, design and operations, and technicians to solve complex material and processing challenges in establishing a high-quality manufacturing line
Be a Change Agent - identifying gaps in processes, articulating what needs to be done to close those gaps and holding vendors accountable with concrete timelines
Facilitate the creation and execution of PFMEA processes and applicable elements of APQP
Support creation of manufacturing instructions to document quality critical characteristics
Physically be on-site at vendors for long periods of time and take active role in new supplier plant start-ups
Project-manage the launch of new production lines and plants as the molten salt supply chain scales
Utilize technical skills to challenge and expedite the new molten salt production lines and plant according to CFS business needs
Adhere to all supply chain policies, procedures, guidelines and instructions including those regarding the procurement of materials, intellectual property, and export compliance
Interface with production operations, inspection, shipping/receiving, and engineering teams to develop appropriate quality signals and processes to meeting overall program reliability goals
Drive changes that make the system more reliable, more manufacturable, and more efficient
Lead cross functional supplier quality failure investigations in production, identifying and mitigating the immediate and underlying root causes in order to quantify/reduce risk and improve reliability of designs and processes
Identify opportunities for risk reduction and removal of complexity in designs and processes to improve manufacturability, collaborating with integrated product teams to drive improvements and address high-impact and repeating non-conformances
Review acceptance and qualification of new capabilities at suppliers
Monitor supplier capabilities for unknown risk and work to resolve issues
Assess changes in supplier processes and cross-functional impacts
What we’re looking for: Bachelor’s degree in the field of Engineering
6+ years’ related work experience in a manufacturing
Experience with chemical plants
Supplier management experience
Deep manufacturing, industrial engineering, process expertise, and an ability to learn new parts and systems quickly
Perform advanced technical activities such as Supplier Assessments & Audits, including Quality Management System (e.g., ISO 9001, AS 9100, IATF 16949)
Utilize specialized quality tools such PPAP (PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA) capacity analysis and Lean Six Sigma initiatives
Ability to design, establish and implement supplier quality improvement processes and procedures
Ability to teach and educate others with little background on the subject

Bonus points for: Master’s degree in the field of Engineering
Six Sigma Certification (Yellow, Green or Black)
Previous experience in a high growth environment
Experience with managing supply chain activities in tooling, consumables, services or indirect sourcing
Experience with assembly teams
Must-have Requirements: Perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call regularly
Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
