Lead Accountant

Responsibilities:

Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements and management reports. Supervise general ledger activities and ensure proper reconciliation of accounts. Manage and review loan accounting processes, including disbursements, repayments, and interest recognition. Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and internal reporting requirements. Monitor and reconcile income, customer repayments, and other financial transactions. Review accounts and investigate discrepancies or irregularities. Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis. Supervise and guide junior accounting staff. Liaise with external auditors and relevant stakeholders when required. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and cost efficiency.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent is an added advantage. Minimum of 4–6 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably in financial services. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. Experience with loan accounting and portfolio management is highly preferred. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent leadership and team-management abilities. High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail. Strong communication and reporting skills.
