SUMMARY

You will be responsible forleading market risk management and middle-office activities supporting Singapore and its related businesses across regional and global markets.

You will develop, implement,and continuously enhance risk management frameworks, policies, controls, andreporting processes to ensure effective oversight of the Group’s commoditiestrading and shipping activities.

Working closely with Trading,Commercial, Finance, Credit Risk, Operations, and senior management, the SeniorRisk Manager will monitor trading exposures, assess market developments,identify emerging risks,and provide independent risk analysis to support soundcommercial decision-making.

The position will also beresponsible for daily trading P&L monitoring, risk exposure analysis,stress testing, Value-at-Risk (VaR), sensitivity analysis, limit monitoring,and assessment of complex or non-standard transactions.

THE ROLE

1. Market Risk Management

  • Manage and monitor market risks arising from the Group’scommodities trading and shipping activities.
  • Monitor trading positions, exposures, P&L movements,market sensitivities, and risk limits on a daily basis.
  • Perform and review Value-at-Risk (VaR), stress testing,scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and other relevant market riskmeasurements.
  • Analyze significant changes in VaR, P&L, exposures, andmarket conditions and provide timely explanations to senior management.
  • Identify concentration risks, emerging risks, and potentialmarket disruptions that may materially impact trading portfolios.
  • Investigate risk limit excesses and ensure breaches areappropriately escalated and resolved.
  • Review the quality and appropriateness of market data andrisk factors used in risk calculations.
  • Assess market risk associated with both physicalcommodities and financial instruments.

2. Trading & Middle Office Oversight

  • Review and validate daily trading P&L and tradingexposures.
  • Independently challenge trading assumptions, valuations,risk positions, and unusual P&L movements where appropriate.
  • Review trading strategies, structured transactions, andembedded optionalities in non-standard commercial arrangements.
  • Support the implementation of appropriate controls aroundtrading activities and new products.
  • Work closely with Front Office, Finance, Operations, andTechnology teams to improve trading and risk-control processes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely risk reporting to management andrelevant governance committees.

3. Risk Strategy & Framework

  • Develop and maintain the market risk management framework,methodologies, policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Ensure risk-management practices are aligned with Grouprequirements, applicable regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain a forward-looking view of market developments andexternal events that may impact the commodities and shipping businesses.
  • Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures andmanagement actions.
  • Support the calibration and periodic review of riskappetite, trading limits, and risk-control thresholds.
  • Drive continuous improvement and simplification of riskprocesses while maintaining effective control standards.

4. Credit & Counterparty Risk

  • Support the assessment and monitoring of counterparty andcredit risks associated with trading activities.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to assess customer,supplier, financial institution, and trading-counterparty exposures.
  • Contribute to geographical, country, and concentration riskassessments where applicable.
  • Identify material changes in counterparty risk profiles andescalate concerns to management.
  • Support the development of appropriate credit limits andrisk mitigation measures.

5. Governance & Reporting

  • Prepare clear and insightful risk reports for the CEO,Board of Directors, Group Risk Management, and relevant Risk Committees.
  • Highlight significant market exposures, limit utilization,risk concentrations, emerging risks, and recommended actions.
  • Participate in risk committees and management discussionsrelating to commodities and shipping risks.
  • Support regulatory, internal audit, external audit, andrisk governance requirements as necessary.
  • Ensure material risk exposures and control issues areappropriately documented, reported, and escalated.
  • Maintain effective governance over risk models,methodologies, assumptions, and risk-management processes.

6. Business Partnership

  • Partner closely with Trading, Commercial, Shipping,Finance, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Technology teams.
  • Provide independent risk advice while supportingsustainable business growth.
  • Review risk implications of new markets, products,counterparties, trading strategies, and business initiatives.
  • Provide constructive challenge to Front Office activitieswhile maintaining a commercially balanced risk/return perspective.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics,Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Science, or another quantitativediscipline.
  • 8–12+ years of relevant experience in Risk Management,preferably within an international commodities trading company, financialinstitution, commodity producer, energy company, shipping company.
  • Strong understanding of commodities trading and shippingmarkets.
  • Solid knowledge of market-risk methodologies, including:
  • Value-at-Risk (VaR), Stress testing, Scenario analysis, Sensitivityanalysis, Position and limit monitoring
  • Strong understanding of market-risk sensitivities for bothfinancial and physical commodity products.
  • Experience analyzing trading P&L, market exposures, andsignificant risk movements.
  • Good understanding of credit and counterparty riskmanagement.
  • Experience working with trading, Front Office, ETRM/CTRM, risk-management,or similar systems is preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills; experience with Excel/VBAis an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, Tableau, Matlab, or otheranalytics/programming tools is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in an international and multiculturalbusiness environment.
