Teaching Duties

1.1. The routine duties to be conducted by Teacher/Education Officer includes but are not limited to the following during teaching hours from 0830 to 1600hrs:

  • Deliver academic lessons to assigned classes at given Youth Homes (YHs) location
  • Deliver Character and Citizenship lessons to assigned classes at given YHs location
  • Supervise youths’ progress of learning during Learning Activities
  • Monitor youths’ attendance and following up with their reasons for absence
  • Mark daily assignments and prepare feedback to be given to youths.
  • Set up resources (eg. IT Lab, Sci Lab,) to conduct the day’s lessons
  • Set examination papers
  • Mark examination scripts
  • Perform relief duties when contingencies arise
  • Attend professional development workshops / retreats / meetings discussions that will increase their teaching competencies
  • Engage with Youth Guidance Officers/ Case Workers of their youths for better socio-emotional and behavioural management of youths
  • Engage with next-of-kins during Parents-Teachers-Officers-Meetings
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Heads of Education Unit / Heads of Departments in YH that require the physical presence of Teacher/Education Officer for supervision of youths and their learning activities.

Administrative Support Duties

1.2. Teacher/Education Officer(s) may be required to perform any combinations of the following administrative duties daily for up to 3 hours on Mondays to Fridays:

  • Invigilate Weightage Assessment, Mid-Year Examinations, Preliminary Examinations and GE and GCE examinations
  • Process youths’ requests that are related to their learning needs (e.g. book requests)
  • Pre-preparation of learning venues with required resources and post-lesson maintenance
  • Assist in supervision of learners with special needs or learning activities in specialised rooms (e.g. Science Laboratory, IT Lab)
  • Upkeep youth records through filing and / or digital storage
  • Collate youth documentations for examination registration
  • Carry out stock take of teaching resources for upkeep and renewal
  • Prepare reports for youths who are undergoing review or adjudication
  • Process testimonials for youths who are discharged from YHs
  • Process youths' examination results and progress reports
  • Carry out post-examination activities such as workshops
  • Perform computer laboratory supervision duties for tertiary or GCE levels
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Heads of Education Unit / Heads of Departments in YH that are administrative in nature to support school functions

Requirements

  • Relevant teaching qualification or tertiary qualification in Mathematics, POA, Education, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant teaching or tutoring experience will be an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support youths effectively.
  • Good classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic learning environment.

Contract Period: 2 Jan 2027 to 13 Nov 2027

Working Arrangement:

Working hours during school terms but not required to work full 42 hours per week. Tentatively 8.30am to 4.00pm (Monday to Friday)

Location: Bulim Drive/Defu Lane

Salary: $40 to $43 per hour (final salary rate will be based on the teacher’s qualification and relevant teaching experience)
