We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled consultant ophthalmologist to join a leading healthcare facility in Dubai. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive ophthalmic care, including the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of a broad range of eye conditions, while ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic consultations and eye examinations.

Diagnose and manage a broad range of ocular conditions affecting the anterior and posterior segments of the eye.

Perform appropriate ophthalmic surgical procedures within the scope of practice.

Evaluate and manage cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disorders, corneal conditions, and other eye diseases.

Perform cataract surgery and other relevant procedures where qualified.

Manage emergency ophthalmic presentations and provide timely treatment.

Interpret ophthalmic diagnostic investigations, including OCT, visual fields, fundus imaging, and other relevant tests.

Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient needs.

Provide preoperative assessments and postoperative care and follow-up.

Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmic technicians, anesthesiologists, and other specialists.

Provide consultations and second opinions for complex ophthalmic cases.

Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical procedures, risks, and expected outcomes.

Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and facility policies.

Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and teaching activities where applicable.

Requirements

Qualifications

Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.

Recognized postgraduate qualification in ophthalmology, in accordance with applicable UAE licensing requirements.

Additional fellowship or advanced training in a relevant ophthalmic subspecialty is desirable.

Eligible for or holding a valid DHA consultant license/eligibility in the relevant specialty.

Demonstrated experience in ophthalmic diagnosis, treatment, and surgical procedures.

Strong clinical, diagnostic, surgical, and decision-making skills.

Experience in cataract surgery and other relevant ophthalmic procedures is desirable.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
