Geotechnical Technical Office Engineer
Responsibilities :
- Technical Reviews & Design Analysis
Geotechnical Report Analysis: Interpret Geotechnical Investigation Reports (borehole logs, Standard Penetration Tests (SPT), Cone Penetration Tests (CPT), triaxial test results, groundwater levels).
Foundation Design & Verification: Perform or verify calculation packages for shallow foundations (isolated/raft footings) and deep foundations (drilled/driven piles, barrettes).
Shoring & Retaining Systems: Analyze and design earth-retaining structures, such as secant/tangent pile walls, diaphragm walls, soldier piles, soil nailing, and ground anchors.
Slope & Settlement Calculations: Conduct slope stability analyses, liquefaction assessments, and immediate/consolidation settlement estimates.
- Shop Drawings & Documentation Submittals
Method Statements: Prepare and review detailed Method Statements for geotechnical activities (e.g., piling work, diaphragm wall execution, dewatering, soil improvement).
Technical Submittals: Compile technical data sheets (TDS), material compliance sheets, and submittals for soil stabilization products, geotextile fabrics, anchors, and grout mixes.
Shop Drawing Coordination: Review and approve shop drawings for pile layouts, reinforcement cages, excavation bracing systems, and instrumentation plans, ensuring alignment with structural drawings.
- Commercial, Contracts & BOQ Support
Bill of Quantities (BOQ): Calculate earthwork quantities (excavation, backfilling, soil replacement), concrete volumes for piles, and ground improvement quantities.
RFI & Variation Claims: Draft Requests for Information (RFIs) regarding subsurface anomalies or drawing discrepancies; prepare technical justifications for variation orders/claims.
Value Engineering: Offer cost-effective alternative ground improvement techniques (e.g., stone columns, dynamic compaction) or foundation re-designs to optimize construction budgets.
- Site Coordination & Quality Assurance
Site Execution Support: Assist site teams in resolving unexpected subsurface conditions encountered during excavation or piling.
Testing Review: Evaluate results from field tests (pile load tests, high-strain/low-strain integrity tests, cross-hole sonic logging, anchor pull-out tests).
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering.
Not than 3 years of experience in civil site works or technical office operations.
Strong technical writing skills for submittals and engineering reporting.
High analytical and problem-solving capability under tight construction deadlines.
Effective communication skills to interface between site engineers, consultants, and clients
