Job Summary
Provide counselling and art therapy to cancer patients and their families in a supportive environment while connecting them to relevant resources and maintaining detailed case records.
Responsibilities
- Assess new client cases to determine the need for counselling or art therapy interventions
- Conduct individual sessions to address clients’ emotional, mental, and lifestyle challenges
- Design and implement personalized art therapy programs aligned with clients’ needs and artistic preferences
- Facilitate discussions with clients to interpret the meaning and emotions expressed in their artworks
- Monitor and evaluate client progress to adjust intervention plans for optimal effectiveness
- Lead group art therapy sessions to foster collective healing and support
- Refer clients to appropriate external healthcare professionals and resources based on assessed needs
- Collaborate with clinical teams to uphold best practices and ensure high-quality patient care
- Prepare comprehensive reports documenting client progress and therapy outcomes for case management
Required competencies and certifications
- Registered and eligible for ANZACATA or SAC membership (essential for professional practice)
- Master’s degree in art therapy (required educational qualification)
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience working with community-based programs (preferred for practical exposure)
- Proficiency in counselling skills to complement art therapy interventions (preferred for holistic client support)
