This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Ft. Benning is located in the "Tri-Community" comprised of Columbus and Ft. Benning, GA; and Phoenix City, AL. Columbus (third-largest city in Georgia) is a growing community.

Major duties

  • Interview witnesses to determine cause of accidents.
  • Take charge of accident scenes upon arrival, directing all other uniformed patrols as they arrive on the scene.
  • Investigate traffic accidents including collecting and securing evidence and the scene.
  • Enforce the laws of the Unites States. Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), and regulations to protect life and property.
  • Analyze and interpret military laws, regulations, and standards as it relates to the prevention of criminal activities in military installations.
  • Apprehend, arrest, or detain persons or violators.
  • Respond to incidents to determine if a violation of the uniform code of Military Justice occurred.
  • Operate motor vehicles involving high speed maneuvering.
  • Operate patrol vehicle in emergency situations.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements to maintain assigned weapons and gear.
  • Operate a firearm in the performance of duty in accordance with proper procedures.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the federal service which include 1) Following police law enforcement procedures and traffic investigation; 2) The apprehension and interrogation of suspects committing violent and non-violent crimes while protecting evidence collected from the crime scene; and 3) Adhering to laws and regulations with police law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques, while maintaining the order of protecting life and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
