Production Controller (Ammunition)

About the Position: Crane Army Ammunition Activity (CAAA) mission is to safely receive, inspect, store, ship, renovate, demilitarize, and manufacture conventional ammunition, missiles, and related components to support Army and Joint Force readiness. CAAA remains nested with Army/AMC/JMC strategic priorities of Readiness, Future Force, People, and Reform.

Major duties

• Serves as the Master Scheduler responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring capacity requirements plan for Crane Army Ammunition Activity.
• Develops the master schedule for production, fabrication, and procurement of products to be stocked or planned for, before shipment or prior to final assembly.
• Plans and programs operations in the production/demilitarization/issues and receipt divisions and verifies capacity for feasibility and completion of the schedule before release of the master schedule to the shop floor.
• Ensures customer satisfaction within established parameters; ensures timely delivery of end items; measures and reduces production backlog; provides visibility into all demands from customers, and ensures the depot has accurate data to work with.
• Investigates discrepancies to forecasts, and conducts audits of shop orders for correctness and that due dates are reliable and realistic.
• Provides advice and recommendations on efficiency of projects throughout the Activity.
• Provides information to the Division Manager for developing policies and procedures relating to operations of all divisions within the assigned production shops.
• Researches, learns and applies a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to identify, analyze and improve effectiveness, efficiency and work products.

Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Determining the status of various aspects of ammunition production to support the overall mission (e.g., funding, procurement, tracking components or raw materials required, manufacturing, scheduling); 2) Analyzing work processes to recommend production process improvements and/or recommending methods/procedures to improve the efficiency/quality of operations; and 3) Maintaining Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to assist with accurate scheduling, reporting and timelines. Education cannot be substituted for experience.
