Senior Systematic Support Engineer
Job summary
We are seeking an experienced senior systematics support engineer (IM/ST) to provide operational support for mission-critical systematics information management (IM) and systematics transaction server (ST) applications running on IBM mainframe (z/OS). The role is responsible for ensuring the availability, stability, and performance of batch processing and online transaction environments. As part of a 24x7 production support organization, the engineer will lead production incident resolution, monitor end-of-day (EOD) batch processing, troubleshoot system issues, and collaborate with application development, infrastructure, and operations teams to maintain business continuity.
Key responsibilities
Provide level 2/level 3 production support for systematics IM/ST applications.
Monitor and support end-of-day (EOD), beginning-of-day (BOD), and scheduled batch processing activities.
Lead troubleshooting and resolution of production incidents related to systematics applications and batch jobs.
Analyze batch failures, abends, job dependencies, and processing delays to ensure timely business operations.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures for recurring production issues.
Monitor application health, system performance, and batch execution to ensure operational stability.
Support application releases, production deployments, and implementation activities.
Collaborate with development, infrastructure, database, and operations teams to resolve complex production issues.
Maintain operational documentation, batch schedules, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
Participate in disaster recovery testing, production readiness reviews, and change implementation.
Mentor junior support engineers and provide technical guidance during major production incidents.
Ensure compliance with SLAs, operational procedures, and ITIL best practices.
Requirements
Required technical skills

Preferred experience
6–10+ years of experience in mainframe production support.
Minimum 4+ years supporting systematics IM/ST applications in enterprise banking or financial services environments.
Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, and VSAM.
Experience supporting large-scale batch processing and mission-critical production systems.
Familiarity with enterprise scheduling tools such as Control-M, CA-7, or equivalent.
Experience working in ITIL-based production support environments.
Knowledge of banking core systems and transaction processing is highly desirable.
