Assistant Plant Manager

Position Summary: The Assistant Plant Manager partners closely with production, maintenance, engineering, quality, and distribution teams to drive operational excellence, improve efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a key leadership role in developing team members, strengthening Service Wire’s safety-first culture, and supporting plant-wide performance goals.
Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities: Promote a safety-first culture by leading by example and ensuring safe work practices across all departments
Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards
Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation
Ensure plant maintains a clean, organized, and safe working environment
Maintain active role on internal continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and cost performance
Assist the Plant Manager in overseeing daily manufacturing operations to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery (OTD), and Cost objectives
Coordinate production activities to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of manufacturing schedules
Monitor production performance and implement improvements to increase productivity and reduce downtime
Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve operational issues and maximize equipment uptime
Support implementation of standard operating procedures and best practices across manufacturing processes
Assist with capital projects, equipment installations, and process improvements
Support warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations to ensure timely delivery and inventory accuracy
Coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to align production schedules with material availability
Help improve order fulfillment processes and on-time delivery performance
Support production planning and prioritization to meet customer demands
Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to supervisors, operators, and plant personnel
Promote employee engagement and teamwork across manufacturing and distribution functions
Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
Communicate Service Wire goals, expectations, and performance metrics to team members
Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment
Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency
Participate in production meetings and review key performance indicators
Support quality management systems and ensure compliance with quality standards
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to plant operations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, purchasing, and engineering
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field preferred
5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial environment
Experience in continuous improvement processes or manufacturing plant operations
Strong team development skills
Knowledge of safety regulations and operational best practices
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
In-person attendance is required
May require occasional extended hours based on business needs
