Structural Steel Fabrication Manager

Structural Steel Plant Manager Location: Gallaway, TN Job Type: Direct Hire Starting Salary: $80,000/year, with higher compensation available based on experience Position Overview Seeking an experienced structural steel fabrication leader to oversee production across two nearby facilities and two shifts. This role provides hands-on leadership to production supervisors while maintaining accountability for safety, equipment and facility maintenance, productivity, quality, scheduling, and on-time shipments. The position oversees approximately 65 employees, with planned growth toward 90, and approximately 5–6 direct reports consisting of department and shop supervisors.

Key Responsibilities Direct daily fabrication activities across two facilities and two shifts.

Lead and support production supervisors and department teams.

Maintain a strong focus on employee safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.

Coordinate production schedules and ensure shipping and delivery commitments are met.

Oversee facility, equipment, and maintenance needs.

Monitor fabrication workflows and identify opportunities for improvement.

Support recruitment, retention, workforce development, and succession planning.

Manage multiple structural steel projects simultaneously.

Oversee departments including Receiving/Inventory, CNC Processing, Fabrication/Welding, Paint, and Shipping .

Address production issues and provide practical solutions to improve operations.

Qualifications 7+ years of structural steel fabrication experience.

5+ years of leadership experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or production.

Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1 ; CWI certification preferred but not required.

Experience working in an AISC-certified shop or fabrication environment.

Experience managing large, heavy, or complex fabrication projects.

Knowledge of SSPC and ASTM coating requirements .

Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes, workflows, and shop operations.

Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to anticipate production challenges and identify improvement opportunities.
